Dr. Minard B. Abenojar, an esteemed alumnus of the National Teachers College (NTC), has been honored as Alaska’s 2024 Educator of the Year. Dr. Abenojar’s remarkable contributions to education, particularly at Pilot Station School in the Lower Yukon School District, have led to this prestigious recognition.

Dr. Abenojar’s academic journey is distinguished by a series of impressive accomplishments. He earned a Bachelor of Elementary Education from NTC in 2008. Demonstrating his dedication to advancing his expertise, he obtained a Master of Arts in Education with a major in English in 2016. In 2021, he reached the pinnacle of academic achievement with a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership. These qualifications underscore his commitment to creating a rich learning environment and his unwavering pursuit of educational excellence.

Currently, Dr. Abenojar serves as a 3rd-grade teacher at Pilot Station School, where his passion for teaching and his ability to inspire his students are evident. His primary goal is to motivate others and make a positive impact on students, colleagues, and the community alike. His innovative teaching methods and compassionate approach have not only improved his students’ academic performance but have also instilled in them a love for learning.
