GED109: Advanced Information Technologies for Education
Course Description
This course deals with the fundamental concepts of information technology. It gives emphasis to the use of e-mail, surfing, chat, modes, and other functions of the Internet and its application. However, the integration of computers as educational technology is its main thrust. It equips students with the competencies in the preparation of technology-based learning materials in different subject areas.
This course focuses on advanced information technologies consequent integration into education (teaching, learning, research, leadership, and service). It discusses concerns and issues in the utilization of technology in classroom instruction in the 21st century (and/or the fourth industrial revolution). It also focuses on the creation of educational technology artifacts through practical and empirical findings to improve learning outcomes; reduced costs; and improved access.
