A full - blooded NTCian, a Doctor of Education

We have places that we often go back to, and for some, it is their alma mater, like Jonas Feliciano C. Domingo, Doctor of Education, and an Education Program Supervisor of DepEd San Juan.

Dr. Domingo finished his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate in the National Teachers College, in which he considered himself a full-blooded NTCian. However, this was not the path he wished to take before because he wanted to be a medical doctor.

According to Dr. Domingo, “Noong nag-aaral pa ako, I wanted to become a medical doctor. But because we were not rich, and we did not have enough money.  My parents told me, ‘mag-Educ ka na muna at kapag naka graduate ka na at saka mo na kuhain yung kursong gusto mo pa. So – dahil gusto kong mag-aral, I went to Manila to study Education. Then, I fell in love with the profession.”

Although Education was not his first choice, it still leads Dr. Domingo to be a Doctor but of Education. A dream that still comes true, however, in a different way. The path he took also led him to meet new friends, mentors, and great people who helped him reach where he is now.

“Napakaraming bagay ang naitulong ng NTC sa akin especially in terms of personal and professional growth. I believe that NTC provided me more than enough experience para maging isa akong mabuting guro at maging isang mabuting professional na makasama sa workforce ngayon,” Dr. Domingo said.

During his college years, NTC gave him a place to grow, where he became active in different school organizations and programs. He was a member of the Educators Chorale, Science Club, and a News Editor. His experiences in NTC helped him to know more of his strengths and weaknesses.

“NTC provided me avenues to determine my strengths and my weaknesses. I also believe that my weaknesses are honed and improved with the help of my professors and friends. Until now, I’m very grateful for what NTC provided me, and I believe I am a reflection of what NTC is. Ako ay nanatiling Tanglaw para sa mga dati kong estudyante at Tanglaw sa mga empleyadong aking nakakasalamuha sa araw-araw,” added Dr. Domingo.

It is true that once you are a Tanglaw, you will always be a Tanglaw, a beacon of passion, ambition, and inspiration to others. Dr. Domingo proves to us that quality education does not need to be expensive because there is a National Teachers College that could provide it.

NTC will always be a place for students who have the passion and ambition to excel and reach greater heights in life. It is a home for those who wish to be light-bearers of excellence and competence.

NTC, a premier institution under a Yuchengco-Ayala educational partnership, ensures that Filipinos will have access to quality education at a reasonable cost.

NTC Partnered with experts in remote learning to ensure the effective delivery of its remote learning. These include: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)-JWEL who works with member organizations to promote excellence and transformation in education to address global opportunities for scalable change in education; Mapua University, one of the pioneers in distance learning, has been continuously improving learning connectivity online even before ECQ; Derrick Latrielle ran learning and development operations for blue-chip technology, telecommunications, and BPO companies operating around the world, especially in South America and Southeast Asia; and, Dr. Edizon Fermin is a member of CHED’s Technical Working Group on Remote Learning.

NTC’s learning continuity plan is clear: stay safe at home and learn meaningfully with assistance from our responsive remote staff, either through calls, texts, social media messages, or emails. The world may have changed drastically, but NTC’s commitment to providing accessible and quality education remains steadfast.
