K-12 is a fundamental building block in a child’s future. The development of a child starts here, where the foundation of life skills is inculcated in the child as he or she progresses. However, the pandemic the world is experiencing has disrupted many lives, making it harder to access quality education.
As the unfortunate situation impeded education access, the National Teachers College (NTC) laid the groundwork to offer quality and affordable private education through its flexible remote learning program.
In the age of no-close-contact, NTC continues to innovate its learning system by adopting flexible learning modalities as alternative modes in education delivery to give students greater control of when, where, and how they want to learn outside the conventional classrooms.
“We are grateful to be part of NTC, an institution that has truly executed educational sustainability even during this pandemic period. Considering that many private institutions have ceased operations, NTC has managed to adapt to the “new normal” form of education at a reasonable tuition cost,” said Mrs. Janis Ian Dungka, whose child is a Grade 6 student of the institution.
Filipino parents value education so much since they consider it a legacy that they can impart to their children. That is why Mrs. Dungca is thankful that NTC is assuring all efforts to promote not only quality of education but also character building to their students as well.
One of the hurdles learners are now facing is the Internet infrastructure in the Philippines. Learners have a hard time connecting to their virtual classrooms, worrying parents that this may affect their children’s academic performance, especially for K-12 learners.
NTC’s Basic Education Department, offering K-12 programs, provided a solution to this problem through its adaptive, responsive, and accessible learning program. NTC’s remote learning set-up gives students greater control of when, where, and how they want to learn outside the conventional classrooms.
“Enrolling in the National Teachers College this time of pandemic is a wise decision we make as a parent. Both the Teaching Staff and the management do well beyond what we expect of them. Giving and extending help towards a successful education for our children is one of the most commended traits they possessed. The visible progress of the kids today is a living testimony on how the school guides the pupils into advanced education. I commend the five clusters (HOMES) that they introduced this school year which is very effective to both my kids,” said Mrs. Maricar A. Ibarrientos, mother of a grade 5 student at NTC.
Aside from providing quality and affordable education, NTC ensures that it will harness its students’ potentials to realize one’s passion and ambition. NTC equips its K-12 students with essential skills and training in the preparation needed for higher instruction, collegiate education, tech-voc, entrepreneurial skills, and workforce. Furthermore, NTC has a history of making school not just about learning but also engaging the students.
The institution makes it fun for its students. NTC administrators believe that the school has to focus on the student’s holistic development through its academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular offerings.
“My son is one of those children who are afraid to explore and show up his talents. But with the nurturing of his teachers, my son is starting to show up his talents at his age, and I do believe that it is just the beginning of his journey, and it’s not too late for him to develop these talents,” said Mrs. Ma.Luthgarda R. Loking, mother of a grade 6 student.
NTC, a premier institution under a Yuchengco-Ayala educational partnership, ensures that Filipinos will have access to quality education at a reasonable cost.
NTC Partnered with experts in remote learning to ensure the effective delivery of its remote learning. These include: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)-JWEL who works with member organizations to promote excellence and transformation in education to address global opportunities for scalable change in education; Mapua University, one of the pioneers in distance learning, has been continuously improving learning connectivity online even before ECQ; Derrick Latrielle ran learning and development operations for blue-chip technology, telecommunications, and BPO companies operating around the world, especially in South America and Southeast Asia; and, Dr. Edizon Fermin is a member of CHED’s Technical Working Group on Remote Learning.
NTC’s learning continuity plan is clear: stay safe at home and learn meaningfully with assistance from our responsive remote staff, either through calls, texts, social media messages, or emails. The world may have changed drastically, but NTC’s commitment to providing accessible and quality education remains steadfast.
