NTC Transforms Students Life

The existence of an organization sometimes changes an individual’s life, such as how National Teachers College transforms the life of Arlyn Santos – Tumala, former Vice-Chancellor for Academics and full-time teacher.

Looking back when she was still unsure about continuing her tertiary studies, she did not know that NTC existed. However, the National Teachers College opened an opportunity for her to continue her studies through scholarships and graduated with a degree in Secondary education major in Mathematics.

According to Arlyn, “complying with the requirements and submitting yourself to an essay examination and interview every semester was quite a challenge, but seeing your name posted every time they announced the scholars was rewarding.”

Arlyn needed to save her allowances to last for a week, and she had to travel from Rizal to Manila at the break of dawn to make it to her classes on time. However, these challenges that she faced gave her the motivation to continue to work hard. Her experiences in NTC also boosted her confidence and enhanced her skills and knowledge to be a competent teacher. Thus, she firmly holds in the values taught to her in NTC that she can now share with her students.

“NTC develops me as a person with passion, that is why at my age, I can say that I already achieved the highest position I could dream of, being a vice chancellor for academics and at present as a full-time teacher. As an alumna in the undergraduate and graduate studies, I will be forever grateful to the National Teachers College. Thank you, NTC,” said Arlyn.
