The National Teachers College President, Mr. Alfredo I. Ayala, is among the eight individuals to serve as policy advisers to the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II).
Under Section 13 of Republic Act 11899: An Act Creating a Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II), the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives choose “two recognized experts” from the following sectors: academe, business sector, government education agencies, heads of the local units, and civil society organization and development partners engaged in education.
Thus, Mr. Alfredo I. Ayala, NTC’s President, completes the advisory council as he will represent the business sector along with Dr. Chito Salazar. Despite not representing the academic sector, Mr. Ayala is not a novice in providing quality education, as he leads investment in education and partners with the various sectors of private and public organizations to bridge the gap in the education system, especially during the pandemic.
With his appointment as an advisor, his contribution to developing a more holistic and harmonized education ecosystem does not only benefit the National Teachers College and its sister schools in achieving its mission and vision as well as answering the needs of students in this post-pandemic year.
Charles Rusuello, a 4th-year BSED student, said, “I support Mr. Alfredo Ayala as an advisor for the Business sector as he looks at the business with ventures of opportunities and considers the needs and trends of the 21st-century workspace. Apart from that, he has been keen on taking care of the people, especially in his response to the COVID pandemic, as he promotes efficacy in information dissemination. He also has excellent leadership experience, and I can still see how he visualized a plan and considered servant leadership’s importance. It is a great way to start EDCOM II with so much surprise and full of well-profound advisors who will share the light of knowledge like our very own Tanglaw.”
Students also look forward to the association of the NTC’s President as it gives them confidence the education system will improve with his contribution to reviewing and developing the education of the Philippines.
“Maganda na the advisors will evaluate kung ano na nga ba yung lagay ng education system dito sa Pilipinas, and for me yung creation ng EDCOM II is important kasi finally after 7 years on K-12 education program and pandemic ngayon lang ulit ma-evaluate ito. Kailangan na kailangan to ngayon kasi naniniwala ako na may mga butas pa na kailangan i-fill sa educational lanscape natin. Actually, I am also happy na isa sa mga advisers ng EDCOM II si sir Fred and as an NTCian I am expecting a lot since naramdaman ko talaga yung progress and changes ng school,” Jason Kirk Dizon, 4th-year BSBA-Marketing Management Student, said.
The designation of Mr. Alfredo I. Ayala attracts many expectations, particularly from the students. Students hope that his participation in the council will enhance the country’s education system and continuously bridge the education gap since the students experienced the leadership of Mr. Ayala at the National Teachers College.
