Project Lawin: A Blessing in Disguised

Optimized Irish Ramos copy

Some things are often disguised as a blessing manifested in Irish Ramos’ life that brought her to the National Teachers College.

Who would have thought that spending time on Facebook will lead Irish to read a post about Project Lawin Scholarship offered at NTC, a collaboration between the National Teachers College and Ayala Foundation? Upon reading about the scholarship, she found it enticing because it granted a full scholarship and a monthly stipend which she believed was a great offer.

According to Irish, “Upon reading that post on FB last year, I found it enticing, and I thought if I try to apply, there’s nothing to lose, so I submitted my application, and luckily I got in. Nakakatuwa that even until now, I talk positively to my classmates and family about this blessing in disguise.”

Irish did not expect that she would be selected, yet she was hoping to be one of the beneficiaries of Project Lawin. When she found out that she would have the scholarship, Irish was ecstatic and grateful because she can pursue her master’s degree without worrying about her finances. It also helps her to focus on her studies and work.

Aside from that, Project Lawin gave her the reason to be back at school again after ten years. She also rekindled the passion that she lost when teaching since she always gave her 100% in everything.

“At one point, I kind of lost my passion in teaching, pero going back to school rekindled the passion I once had. I suddenly realized na, Okay! It’s still fun to study. It is still fun to teach, and there’s no better profession for me than being in the academe,” Irish said.

Sometimes giving your best is exhausting, but we have to find some things that can ignite the passion in our souls and heart. Like Irish, getting the scholarship and studying in NTC is a blessing that ignited the fire that almost burned out.

“I also felt intimidated because I studied a bit late compared to my colleagues and classmates. It’s like when I’m just about to take my first step, they are in the finish line, celebrating. They finished before I even started but studying at NTC, I realize that graduate study is not a race or a competition, so who cares if I am just about to start today? What matters most is what I learn, and I have the will to start. NTC gives me the courage to endure the odds and optimism to reach the end,” Irish added.

The National Teachers College is a blessing disguised as an institution. We help students to reawaken the sleeping fire inside their hearts. Also, we always provide opportunities for those whose desire is to learn and be the best in their profession.
